"Cypress Cellar's History"

Reneé Ellender Shealy, owner of the Cypress Cellar restaurant located at 321-C North Main Street, Hendersonville, North Carolina, grew up in Bourg, Louisiana. Bourg is in Terrebonne Parish, 70 miles south of New Orleans. She is committed to providing outstanding unique South Louisiana cuisine, great customer. Please browse through the Cypress Cellar's web site to find out what we are all about.

Reneé began cooking when she was a young girl. Reneé uses many of the recipes that she learned from her mother at the Cypress Cellar. She said "I grew up on a sugar cane farm with five older brothers and I was the only girl, so when they were hungry, I cooked. When I moved to Hendersonville, NC, I would entertain friends with dinner parties, and always cooked Louisiana-style food. In 1995, I threw a big Mardi Gras party with some friends, and that evening everyone started talking about me opening a restaurant. I started to pursue it from there, and opened Cypress Cellar on Labor Day-September 2, 1996."
